A bit more about who I am and what I am doing...

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Minor in Media and Visual Arts (Koc University - Istanbul, TR), and a Master’s Degree in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media (Pompeu Fabra University - Barcelona, ESP).

I have research experience across various academic laboratories in diverse institutional and cultural contexts, also including international collaborations. Most of my work is rooted in participatory design methodology, involving co-design sessions, user research (such as expert and user interviews, usability testing, and focus groups), and data analysis using Python and SPSS. My previous academic work includes defining design guidelines for behavior change (water intake) and co-creating mixed-reality environments for children.

Currently, my interdisciplinary research at the University of Edinburgh focuses on assistive and music technologies in later life. I explore how participatory design can inform the development of new music technologies to support wellbeing, identity, ageing, dementia care, and experiences of life transition, grounded in context-sensitive research practices.

Hobbies?

Well I’ve been playing tennis since I was six and spent many years competing! I’ve also been playing piano, not since when I was six, but my intermediate skills let me tackle some notes from classical masterpieces to Turkish pop hits. I enjoy watercolor painting, reading Sartre, practicing yoga, oh and I'm always learning a new word in Spanish!

Quién sabe a dónde me llevará la vida… o a dónde terminaré llevándola yo.

Best,

Deniz
